My name is Tom Lelyo. I am a Catholic husband & father living in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. My passion is serving the Church in youth ministry & music ministry through being a professional speaker, musician, & blogger.
I grew up as a cradle Catholic in Northern New Jersey, and like most young people in the Church I wasn’t “on fire” for my faith early on. In the summer of 2001 I attended a youth conference that really challenged me to get committed to my faith. Since then, everyday I challenge myself and try to challenge others to know God’s presence in our lives.
In 2008 I graduated DeSales University with a degree in Theology & Philosophy. That summer, I also got married to my high school sweet heart, and less than a year later we welcome into our family our first son, Tommy. His brother Jonah would join the family in 2010.
During this time I was a full time youth minister at a local parish in Bucks County, PA for two years and then became the Assistant Coordinator for the Office for Youth & Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Allentown, PA. I also completed my Graduate studies in Systematic Theology at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary Overbrook.
After 6 months of working for the Diocese however, the Lord gave me another opportunity to serve him, and I am currently working for my father in-law in his small business.
I still continue to be involved in ministry though, and my goal is to be able to serve the Church full-time while still providing for my families needs.
Currently I am a part-time youth minister at my parish. I’m also actively involved in public speaking and music ministry within the Church. And, I have my blog: The Catholic Worship Blog
As I said, my passion is serving the Church – particularly through youth & music ministry. Young people ARE the Church of today, and they need to be encouraged. Music, for its part, is a CRUCIAL element of who we are as Catholics and I want to inspire others to take up their instruments and give praise to God through the rich musical tradition of the Church.
I believe, that as Catholics we have a unique gift to offer the world through our faith. I would like to invite you to take a look at my paper resume to get some of the “specifics” of what I’ve done over the past few years. I’d also invite you to look at 3 websites that I believe encapsulate my passion to serve the Church:
I want to thank you for taking some time to get to know who I am and what I am passionate about. I look forward to speaking with you about an opportunity for us to work together to further the Kingdom. Thank you, and God bless!
